Gov. Yusuf stops salaries of over 10,000 workers employed by Ganduje

Kano State Government on Monday stopped the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by the immediate past administration of Umar Ganduje.

The Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam stopped the salaries following an order by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Governor Yusuf accused the former administration of “illegally” employing over 10,000 workers when it was about to leave office.

The Accountant General announced the Governor’s directive while addressing Journalists in Kano.

Abdusalam said the Governor ordered his office to remove the affected workers’ names from the State’s payroll.

He said his office would carry out an investigation to find out the genuineness of their engagement and procedures so as to remove those illegally recruited.

On Local Government workers in the state, Abdusalam said those who were converted to State workers by the former Administration would continue receiving their salaries.
