NUC’s retired secretary hands over to deputy

Retired Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission NUC, Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar has handed over the baton of leadership to the Deputy Executive Secretary, Chris Maiyaki.

The handing-over ceremony took place on Friday, at the headquarters of the Commission.

Prof. Abubakar who voluntarily stepped down from the Commission as Executive Secretary on Tuesday, said he is heading back to the Bayero University, Kano to continue his career in lecturing.

Although no reason was given for his resignation, he had up to three years to the expiration of his second tenure in the Commission.

The former NUC boss is expected to resume his new appointment as a classroom teacher at the Bayero University Kano, effective, the 1st of June 2023.

Maiyaki while giving his acceptance speech, described Prof. Abubakar as a trailblazer in university education, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
