The Chicago State University educational documents of President Bola Tinubu has been admitted as exhibits by the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Recall that the court had ordered the president through his team of lawyers to open his defence in the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku challenging his election.

During the proceedings on Tuesday, the president’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, also tendered Tinubu’s US Visa documents.

Among others, the educational documents comprised the admission letter offered to Tinubu by the Institution and were tendered to establish his attendance and graduation at the university.

Tinubu also made available to the court all documents of the Nigeria Immigration Service which cleared him for the US trips indicating that he visited the USA unhindered between 2011 and 2021.

Also admitted as exhibits by the court is the USA’s Embassy letter of April 4, 2003, which is a response to a letter from the Nigerian Police dated February 3, 2003, which claimed that the Embassy had no criminal records of Tinubu in the USA.

Apart from the educational documents, Tinubu also tendered newspaper publications on several suits filed against him by several groups.

The court also admitted an originating summons of a suit instituted at the Supreme Court by the Attorneys General of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, and Sokoto States challenging the educational background of Tinubu to stand for the 2023 presidential election.

Meanwhile, further hearing in the petition has been shifted to Wednesday, July 5 by the Presiding Justice of the Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani.
