A 17- year old teenager has been arraigned by the Lagos State Government for allegedly abducting and defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The teenager, whose identity is not disclosed, was arraigned on Wednesday before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

He is facing a three-count charge bordering on defilement, abduction from the custody of parents and incapacitation to commit a felony.

The defendant allegedly committed the offence between July 11 and 15, 2022 in the Ikotun area of Lagos, the state prosecution counsel, Ms Abimbola Abolade, told the court.

According to Abolade, the defendant, with intent to have sexual intercourse, detained the alleged victim in his house against her wish.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant gave a liquid substance to the girl to incapacitate her.

According to the prosecutor the offence contravened Sections 137, 239 and 269 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Consequently, Justice Abiola Soladoye ordered that the case file should be returned to the registry in order to be re-assigned to a family court after the defendant told the court he was 17 years old.

Soladoye also ordered that the boy should be returned to a Correctional Home in Adigbe, Ogun State.

She adjourned the case till October 18 for further report
