  • PSG not eyeing Osimhen as Mbappe replacement
  • Bid for Osimhen is part of the club’s hierarchy move to appease wantaway Mbappé

French champions Paris Saint-Germain will push for the signature of Nigeria’s striker Victor Osimhen as they seek to bolster their attacking options next season.

It’s gathered that the bid for Osimhen is part of the club’s hierarchy move to appease wantaway attacker, Kylian Mbappé, and make him stay at the club.

Recall that previous rumours claimed that PSG eyed Osimhen as a potential replacement for the Real Madrid-linked Mbappé.

However, SPORT.es reports that PSG’s goal is not to replace the young Frenchman but rather to enlist Osimhen’s support in persuading him to sign a fresh contract.

Mbappé had recently announced his intention to run down the remaining year of his PSG contract while forgoing the optional season and declining to renew. This announcement sent shockwaves through the transfer market, as it meant PSG had to consider selling him to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

This situation nudged the French international back on the radar of Real Madrid who last summer offered €200m for his transfer before the footballer backed down and accepted the renewal presented to him by PSG.

The potential arrival of Osimhen to forge a formidable partnership with Mbappe would align with PSG’s objective of clinching Europe’s most prestigious club football title, UEFA champions league, which has remained elusive for them in recent years.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has requested a salary of €7 million per year in order to extend his current contract with Napoli, according to Punch Sports Extra.

Get Italy Football News reported that Napoli, who have already begun contract negotiations with Osimhen, want to include a significant €200 million release clause in the new agreement.

He has been linked to moves to PSG, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich due to his impressive form.
