PSC fires three senior police officers over misconduct

Three senior Police Officers have been kicked out of the force over cases of misconduct, the Police Service Commission, PSC, has said.

The development is contained in state issued on Friday by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of PSC.

According to the statement, the commission also ratified the reduction in ranks of five others found wanting in the conduct of their official duties.

He stated the dismissed Police Officers were two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and one Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

He disclosed that one Chief Superintendent of Police, (CSP), one Superintendent (SP), one Deputy Superintendent (DSP) and two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) were reduced in ranks for misconduct, adding that fourteen officers received severe reprimands, six others, reprimanded and seven others were given warning letters.

He said the commission also reinstated six dismissed officers who got favourable court judgements or a review of their cases

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission on Thursday approved the appointment of two Deputy Inspectors General of Police, promotion of CSP Olumuyiwa Oladunmoye Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and the Confirmation of 9,016 unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police.

The Plenary also approved the promotion of 14,052 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (Unconfirmed) while one Inspector Habila Bulus was promoted to ASP 11 for his gallantry and commitment to duty.

Also Inspector Mohammed Aminu who trended on social Media where he was seen being assaulted in uniform by one Seun Kuti was also promoted to ASP 1.

The Commission noted that inspite of the unwarranred provocation, intimidation and serious assult he exhibited a high level of professionalism, restraint and chose to follow the due process of law to seek redress.
