Troops have inflicted heavy casualties on the bandits wreaking havoc on some states in the northwestern part of the country.

At least four of the rampaging bandits have been killed in a recent onslaught against them by the troops.

They bandits were annihilated by troops of Operation Haderin Dajo deployed at Forward Operation Base, FOB, Faru, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The bandits were killed in Bagabuzu community.

The offensive followed the receipt of a credible information by the military, the troops mobilized to the scene and engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle which resulted in neutralizing the four bandits, while others escaped with various degrees of injuries.

The troops recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, GPMG, one FN rifle and 123 rounds of special ammunition.

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto/commander, Joint task force, Operation Haderin Dajo, Major General Mutkut commended the troops for their resilience, gallantry and sustaining the onslaught against the bandits.

He called on the public to give the troops of Operation Haderin Daji the maximum support through credible information.

In another development, the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji in a coordinated operation have cleared bandits’ enclaves at Mutuwa, Gudatudu, Kawar, Dantayawa, Gida Kare, Muhuta and Gyado communities of Sokoto and Zamfara States on 20th July, 2023.

A military source confirmed the development, saying that the operation was still ongoing in the area.
