Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has closed his case as the second respondent in the ongoing Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, with Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi as the sole witness.

According to reports, the petitioner, the APC, is challenging INEC’s decision to declare Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) the winner of the March 18, 2023 election.

The petitioner also requests that the tribunal declare that the NNPP has no candidate because Kabir Yusuf was not on their voter list submitted to INEC at the time of the election.

INEC, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are the respondents.

R. A. Lawal SAN, counsel for the second respondent, led in evidence the witness who deposited his witness of oath before the court as his evidence at the resumed hearing yesterday.

He told the court that the second respondent was declared the winner of the March 20 election, having received 1,019,602 votes to Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who received 890,705 votes with a margin of 128,897 votes.

Eight Nigerian teachers sponsored to US to teach Yoruba in varsities, colleges

Eight Nigerian teachers have been sponsored to travel to the United States to teach Yoruba language and culture in universities and colleges for one academic session.

The teachers will travel to the US under the 2023 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA).

The US Missions in Nigeria disclosed this via Instagram account on Saturday.

According to the message, the beneficiaries are expected to polish their teaching skills and share their experience in American society to solidify the relationships between the two countries.
