  • The party described claims by PDP that APC had a hand in the planned attack as “gibberish”
  • APC called on the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate PDP’s allegation that the APC was responsible for the attack on Atiku’s residence

The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday, condemned the threat to the life Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate.

The ruling party said Atiku should be given the fullest protection of the law as a Nigerian citizen.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka disclosed this in a statement in Abuja while reacting to the recent foiled attacks on Atiku’s residence in Yola and ABTI University by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

The party also described claims by PDP that APC had a hand in the planned attack as “gibberish”.

He also called on the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate PDP’s allegation that the APC was responsible for the attack on Atiku’s residence.

The statement partly reads, “In continuation of its vacuous and mindless campaign of calumny, the [People’s Democratic Party] PDP has alleged that suspected members of Boko Haram terrorist group, arrested by the police following their foiled plot to attack the residence of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and its presidential candidate, in Yola, were sponsored by the APC.

“Spewing lies and gibberish has become the PDP’s obsessive preoccupation following its crushing defeat in the last February 25 Presidential Election.”

Morka also insisted that Atiku is a citizen of Nigeria and deserved the fullest protection of the law.

He called on the police, the DSS and other relevant security agencies to investigate the PDP’s bogus allegations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
