President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Comptroller Generals and Assistant Comptroller Generals of Nigeria Customs Service.

Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson of NCS, disclosed this on Friday Morning.

The new appointment includes three DCGs: FO Okun, MBA Musa, and A Hamisu.

Also, three ACGs were appointed.They include K Olumoh, AB Mohammed and A Alajogun.

“Following the appointment of the Acting Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR on 19 June 2023 and the retirement of some management members in the Service, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic Nigeria, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu GCFR has approved the appointment of the following Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) and Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs): DCG FO Okun, DCG MBA Musa, DCG A Hamisu, ACG K Olumoh, ACG AB Mohammed, ACG A Alajogun.

“While thanking the retired members of the management for their meritorious Service, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, congratulated the newly appointed Officers and charged them to redouble their efforts to ensure the Service achieves greater heights in its mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation”, he stated.

Tinubu had earlier approved the appointment of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs.

Meanwhile, the Senate has urged the Federal Government to ensure that the sum of N14.2 billion appropriated in the 2022 Budget to build a befitting Academy/ Training School for the revenue generating agency, the Nigerian Customs Service was used judiciously.

The Senate equally mandated its Committee on Customs , Excise and Tariff when constituted, to embark on effective oversight on construction and completion of the envisioned One – Stop Shop operational centre for the revenue generating agency.

The Senate resolutions were a sequel to a motion sponsored by Senator representing Bauchi South,Umar Shehu Buba. It was co-sponsored by 16 other lawmakers.
