  • Lauren James believes that the Super Falcons will be a difficult opponent for the Lionesses in the round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s World Cup
  • Both teams are still unbeaten in the tournament and the winner of the match will advance to the quarter-finals

Lauren James, an England forward, believes the Super Falcons will be a difficult opponent for the Lionesses in the round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The two countries are still unbeaten in the women’s football tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Randy Waldrum’s team finished second in Group B with five points, five points behind co-hosts Australia, while England won Group D after winning all three games.

The winner of the highly anticipated match in Brisbane next Monday will advance to the competition’s quarter-finals.

Samuel Okwaraji’s last breath on the Pitch — A reminder that time is never ours to keep

Nigeria exited the last edition of the Women’s World Cup in France after losing 3-0 to Germany at the same stage four years ago, and they will hope to do better this time.

Meanwhile, England finished fourth after losing their third-place match to Sweden.

While the 11-time African champions hope to improve on their best World Cup performance, when they were eliminated in the quarter-finals in 1999, England hopes to win the competition for the first time after reaching the quarter-finals three times and the semi-finals twice previously.

The Chelsea Women’s forward admitted that the Super Falcons would be a difficult opponent for the European champions after the Lionesses’ emphatic 6-1 victory over China in their final group game.

Nigeria is going to be very tough, to be fair every team has been tough, even watching the other games, James was quoted as saying by englandfootball.com.

Teams are catching up with each other and I know that will be another very difficult game.

The two countries last met in the tournament in the group stage 28 years ago, with the Lionesses winning 3-2 to advance to the knockout stages at the expense of the Falcons.
