Kwara: Dead body of 21-year-old girl recovered from well

A 21-year-old girl dead body has been recovered  from a domestic well in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The victim, a mentally-challenged identified as Hamudat, was retrieved from the well on Saturday.

She was from Ile-Kangu Compound, Pakata area of Ilorin, in llorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, fell into a well but was recovered dead.

The spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunke, made the disclosure, adding that the terrible incident took place at about 14:55hrs [02:55PM].

He said, “The Kwara State Fire Service swiftly responded to a rescue operation at Ile Kangu Compound, Pakata area, Ilorin, where Hamudat, said to be a mentally-handicapped 21-year-old lady, had fallen into a domestic well.

“The skilled firemen successfully recovered her and safely handed her over to her father, Alhaji Suleiman Issa,” he added.

The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, advised the general public to prioritise safety, and to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.

He also cautioned against sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells
