  • Tottenham Hotspur is in talks to sign Nigerian striker Gift Orban as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
  • Orban, who scored 20 goals in 22 appearances last season, has impressed multiple European clubs with his performance.

Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League and Gent of Belgium have begun talks to sign Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

The London club agreed personal terms with the striker on Thursday, as the club continues its search for a replacement for star striker Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich this summer.

Tottenham desperately needs a striker and has identified the Nigerian as one of their targets, along with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

While it was reported that an agreement had been reached with the forward, all that remained was a deal with Gent for the player’s transfer.

However, Italian journalist Sacha Tavolieri said the English club has begun talks with Gent.

Talks ongoing for Gift Orban to Tottenham Hotspurs. Still no official written offer sent today by Spurs but I’ve been told, it’s processing. Wait and see.

Orban, 20, whose Gent contract expires on June 30, 2027, piqued the interest of several European clubs after an impressive debut season in which he scored 20 goals in 22 appearances in 2022/23.

The Nigerian has already started the season on a high note, scoring five goals in four games.

I almost signed Akpom at 19 – Ajax director, Sven Mislintat

Sven Mislintat, the director of football at Ajax, claims he almost signed their new striker, Chuba Akpom, from Arsenal when he was 19.

On Wednesday, Akpom signed a five-year contract with the Dutch giants for an initial fee of €12.3 million and was given the iconic No.10 jersey previously worn by Johan Cruyff, Frank Rijkaard, Aron Winter, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Rafael van der Vaart, and Wesley Sneijder.

Mislintat was Dortmund’s chief scout from 2006 to 2017, where he signed players such as Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and he held the same position at Arsenal from 2017 to 2019.

The German, who was named Ajax’s director of football in April, couldn’t help but admire the former Arsenal player.
