Shortly after successfully defending her title and winning her third consecutive Diamond League 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan finds herself facing an appeal by the Athletics Integrity Union (AIU) to overturn the decision that cleared her of any wrongdoing.

The AIU alleges that the former world champion missed three whereabouts tests within a 12-month period.

Back in July, the AIU imposed a provisional ban on Amusan from all sporting activities after she allegedly violated anti-doping rules. She was charged with missing three whereabouts control tests. However, a month later, an Independent Disciplinary Tribunal cleared her of any wrongdoing.

Following the tribunal’s decision, the AIU announced its intention to appeal the verdict at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the international body responsible for resolving sports-related disputes through arbitration.

Throughout this entire process, Amusan has consistently denied all the allegations brought against her. In a strong statement released after the initial provisional ban, Amusan maintained her innocence and emphasized that she is a “clean athlete” who has always followed the anti-doping rules and regulations. She expressed her disappointment and frustration with the situation, but also remained confident that the truth would prevail.

“I am a CLEAN ATHLETE, and I am regularly; (maybe more than the usual) tested by the AIU – I was tested within days of my third “missed tests”. I have FAITH that this will be resolved in my favour. In the meantime, I ask that the media respect my privacy while I address these allegations in my upcoming arbitration,” she had said.
