  • Chukwudi Dimkpa, a prominent APC member in Rivers State, distances himself from claims made by Tony Okocha about party support for Atiku Abubakar
  • Dimkpa reaffirms his commitment to the APC’s success and emphasizes the need for party unity and harmony

Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has urged Tony Okocha, a factional leader of the party in the state, to desist from sowing discord and causing distractions within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Tony Okocha had led a faction of the APC in the state on a courtesy visit to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman in Abuja, during which he claimed that during a meeting attended by numerous party chieftains in the state, including Chukwudi Dimkpa, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi had allegedly called on members to support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the February election.

Dimkpa, through his Special Adviser on Media, Stephen Deegbara, issued a statement yesterday refuting any involvement in the purported meeting or any decisions that Okocha claims were made.

“We want to clarify that as a dedicated member of the APC, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa has committed his time, effort, and resources, alongside other stakeholders, to ensure the APC’s success in the recently concluded polls,” he stated.

Dimkpa’s statement underscores his commitment to the APC’s objectives and his disassociation from any actions or statements made by Tony Okocha that may suggest otherwise. It highlights the need for unity and harmony within the party to achieve its goals.

Tinubu Urges Kogi Electorate to Vote APC for Continuity and Progress

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has passionately appealed to the electorate in Kogi State to throw their weight behind the ruling party by casting their votes for Ahmed Ododo, the APC candidate, in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for November 11. He stressed the importance of continuity and consolidation of the party’s achievements.

Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, conveyed this message during the official commencement of the APC’s governorship campaign in Lokoja, the state capital. He called on voters to show up in large numbers on Election Day and exercise their democratic rights.

In his address, Tinubu stated, “For the sake of continuity and the advancement of our great state, it has become imperative for the people of Kogi State to align themselves with the center. I implore you to turn out in massive numbers and vote for Usman Ahmed Ododo.”
