  • APC warns Atiku and Peter Obi of potential contempt charges for discussing matters currently before the courts in public
  • Party asserts that reintroducing Bola Tinubu is unnecessary, and their legal team may consider contempt charges against the duo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 poll, Atiku Abubakar, and that of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, could face contempt charges.

In response to a press conference held by Peter Obi in Abuja, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, a lawyer, expressed that Tinubu did not require reintroduction and suggested that the party’s legal team should contemplate filing contempt charges against Obi and Atiku.

During the press conference, Peter Obi asked Bola Tinubu to reintroduce himself to Nigerians to clarify matters concerning his identity, particularly his state and academic records at Chicago State University, which have generated controversy in the country.

The APC, however, asserted that Nigerians are well aware of Tinubu’s credentials and that there is no need for a fresh introduction.

The statement highlighted that it is disturbing and contemptuous of the courts for Atiku and Obi to simultaneously submit issues for adjudication in court while publicly discussing the same matters.

The APC condemned the attempts by Obi, Atiku, and their supporters to use the media to intimidate the judiciary, incite the public to violence, and disparage Justices of the Appeal and Supreme Court. The party called for well-meaning Nigerians to denounce such actions and behaviours.

Unveil your true identity – Obi tackles Tinubu on name, schools, age

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi has demanded that President Bola Tinubu come out transparent on his true identity.

Obi made the demand on Wednesday during a press conference in Abuja.

The former Anambra State governor urged Tinubu to reintroduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubt.

According to Obi, it’s only Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement that could clear every speculation about his true identity.
