President Bola Tinubu’s administration has shifted the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting from Wednesday to Monday.

This change was confirmed by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, during a briefing with State House correspondents after a FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

President Tinubu has conducted two FEC meetings since the inauguration of his cabinet in August. The latest meeting on Monday also involved the swearing-in of three additional ministers who recently underwent screening by the National Assembly.

Minister Idris mentioned that FEC meetings may not occur regularly, particularly if there are no pressing issues to be discussed.

This alteration deviates from the previous practice under President Muhammadu Buhari, where FEC meetings were typically held on Wednesdays.

Meanwhile, the second Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting took up the issues of economy and the agreement reached between government and the labour unions early this month to avert an industrial action.

The Minister said that the issues were significant to the current realities and expectations of Nigerians on the Tinubu-led administration, adding that it was also hinged on the Renewed Hope Agenda.

‘’The issues raised at the meeting include economy, road infrastructure around the country, memo about the agreement reached between government and the labour unions, as well as the export processing zone revitalisation,’’ he said.
