  • Simon Lalong, Minister of Labour and Employment, uses his peacebuilding experience from his time as Plateau State governor for industrial harmony
  • Lalong emphasizes the importance of trust and dialogue in resolving grievances and mentions President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to Nigerian development

Simon Lalong, the Minister of Labour and Employment, stated that the experience he gained in peacebuilding and conflict management during his time as governor of Plateau State is assisting him in his current role. He is working to ensure industrial harmony, which is crucial for the successful implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by the Izere Nation to honour Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, the immediate past Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Lalong emphasized the importance of building confidence and trust, especially when dealing with agitations, grievances, or differences that could be exploited if not properly addressed.

Lalong pointed out that Tinubu is dedicated to developing Nigeria by ensuring that public and private sector workers give their best, as evidenced by the quick attention given to a recent planned labour strike, which was averted through dialogue.

He also expressed gratitude to Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, who had worked diligently with others in implementing the Rescue Agenda during his tenure as governor.

Abia destroys 160 brothel rooms over insecurity

The Abia State Government (ABSG) has transformed the cattle market at Lokpanta in Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA) into a daily market without residential facilities.

This decision addresses the rising insecurity concerns along the Lokpanta-Umunneochi-Uturu axis within the state.

During a press briefing in Umuahia on Monday evening, Navy Commander MacDonald Uba, the Security Adviser to the state governor, made this announcement.

He further revealed that the state government had taken a step to demolish 160 rooms in the market suspected to be used by kidnappers and other criminals.
