  • APC Support Groups express disappointment at lack of recognition and reward from party leadership despite their significant contributions
  • Concerns raised over the treatment of dedicated supporters and political challenges, including Atiku Abubakar’s frequent party-switching

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups, Engr Muhammed Kailani, has voiced concerns about a reward system within the party for its dedicated supporters who stood by the APC during critical times.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Kailani expressed disappointment over the treatment of the Confederation of APC Support Groups, encompassing over 150,000 groups. He pointed out that they have been treated with indifference by the leadership of the APC, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite their significant contributions in Nigeria and abroad.

“It is evident that since February 29, 2023, the APC under President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima has not acknowledged the leadership of any confederation of APC Support Groups in terms of federal appointments. Instead, unfamiliar names are being introduced daily,” Kailani stated.

He further emphasized the growing impatience among their members, who have been investing their resources, time, and energy to ensure the success of the APC in the 2023 general elections. Kailani insisted they should not be left empty-handed while uninvolved individuals reap the benefits.

On the matter of President Tinubu’s certificate issue, Kailani asserted that it was clear to any political analyst that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) were pursuing unsubstantiated claims of their creation.

“They failed to address substantial election-related issues such as rigging, underage voting, or ballot snatching and instead relied on unfounded allegations,” Kailani commented.

He also pointed out that Atiku’s frequent party-switching in pursuit of the presidency has made him a perennial loser in presidential contests. Kailani suggested that unless Atiku stabilizes his political career, his presidential ambitions may continue to be unsuccessful. He also warned that Mr. Peter Obi could face a similar fate if he continues to align with perennial presidential candidates like Atiku Abubakar.

Kailani’s statements highlight the need for acknowledgement and recognition of loyal party supporters and underscore the challenges faced by the APC in rewarding those who played crucial roles in the party’s electoral success.
