A statement on Saturday by the Director, of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu quoted the COAS as saying this during the Passing Out Parade of 6,000 Recruits of the 85 Regular Recruit Intake.

It partly read, “He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army will continue to give troops’ training and welfare the priority it deserves,” adding, that current emphasis is on the renovation of accommodation facilities that are in deplorable states, while efforts were also being made to provide additional ones.

“He said soldiers deserve the best accommodation the service can provide when they are not on the frontline as incentives for their sacrifices.

“He also maintained that under his stewardship, the Nigerian Army is improving its medical facilities to make them more suitable to handle all battle casualties arising from operational engagements,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, during his visit to the palace of Ahmed Bamali, sought the support of monarchs in the country in their ongoing fight against insecurity.

“The COAS solicited the support of royal fathers of the traditional institution for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in ensuring that enduring peace and harmony reign in their domains”, the statement added.
