Former presidential aide, Laolu Akande, has underscored the importance of conducting meaningful and respectful discussions on social media, rather than resorting to insults and personal attacks.

His statement was made in response to social critic Aisha Yesufu’s comments concerning former President Goodluck Jonathan. Akande emphasized the significance of “speaking truth to power” for a healthy democracy but cautioned that the use of insults weakens the impact of critical messages.

In his tweet, Akande encouraged Yesufu and others to focus on serious discussions that can drive positive change, as there are pressing issues that demand attention. His position found support among fellow social media users.

Adewunmi Collins, a social media user, concurred with Akande, emphasizing the importance of constructive dialogue in the nation-building process.

Musa Jacob stressed the need to prioritize significant national issues over minor disputes.

Maxwell Jones underscored that messages can be effectively conveyed without resorting to insults, and commended Akande for promoting constructive criticism.

Aisha Yesufu, a fervent supporter of Peter Obi, the Labor Party Presidential Candidate, has been highly critical of President Bola Tinubu and those who congratulated him on his Supreme Court victory.

Shortly after the Supreme Court validated Tinubu’s election, she tweeted that Tinubu would never be her president.

Jonathan still sees himself as that child without shoes – Aisha Yesufu

Socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan for his visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Jonathan’s visit to the Presidential Villa on Friday was reportedly to congratulate President Tinubu on the Supreme Court verdict affirming his election.

After a closed-door meeting with Tinubu, Jonathan emphasized the need for past presidents to unite and devise solutions to alleviate poverty among the masses, acknowledging that the election matters were concluded and it was time to support Tinubu.

The ex-president’s words did not, however, go down well with Aisha Yesufu, who went on her X handle to slam the Bayelsa-born politician.
