Governors affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have issued a call to the Supreme Court, urging it to ensure that the country’s jurisprudence remains intact. The governors expressed their concerns that PDP candidates in Plateau State are facing disqualification on pre-election issues despite the precedents laid down by the Supreme Court.

Governor Bala Mohammed, the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, conveyed this message during a meeting in Abuja. He emphasized the governors’ commitment to repositioning the party and strengthening its role as a viable opposition in the country.

The governors also called upon the federal government to take measures to stabilize the Naira, control inflation, address unemployment, and alleviate the prevailing hardships in the country. Additionally, they expressed satisfaction with the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the impeachment crisis in Rivers State, indicating that all parties involved have welcomed the intervention and anticipate an amicable resolution.

Under the auspices of the Governors Forum, governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are presently locked in a closed-door meeting discussing several national concerns.

The political situation in Rivers State appears to be the main item on the agenda, based on impressions from the meeting.

Bala Mohammed, the PDPGF Chairman, called the emergency meeting. (Bauchi).

Some of the governors in attendance in the meeting holding at the Oyo State Governors Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, include: Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Dr. Dauda Lawal( Zamfara) Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) among others.
