  • Earlier, the 50% fare rebate was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on August 2, 2023.
  • LAMATA has urged residents to prepare for the reversion to pre-August transport fare rates.

The 50% BRT fare discount will no longer be available starting on Sunday, according to a statement released by LAMATA, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority.

On its Facebook on Saturday, LAMATA made this announcement.

The temporary 50% fare reduction, according to LAMATA, will end on Sunday, and normal pricing will resume on Monday.

In an effort to lessen the impact of the elimination of subsidies on Lagosians, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the reduction on August 2.

The statement reads: “The 50% rebate in transport fare in the regulated transport system in Lagos ends on Sunday, a statement by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority has said.

“The 50% fare rebate was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on August 2, 2023.

“The public is hereby informed that from Monday, November 6, 2023, transport fare will return to the pre-2nd August 2023 rate.”

The agency urged Lagosians to be aware of the modification and start arranging for the return to the usual transit fare rates in effect prior to the August adjustment.
