Kano State Government Allocates Over N40 Billion for Flyover and Various Projects

The Council allocated N56,763,475 to the state Ministry of Higher Education for the reconstruction of a burnt theatre at Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies

  • Kano State Executive Council allocates funds for various infrastructure projects, including road construction and renovations, totaling over N40 billion
  • The Council also approves budget amendments, amounting to N24 billion, including recurrent and capital expenditures for 2023

In its 8th meeting, the Kano State Executive Council ratified the allocation of N40,353,117,070 for the implementation of multiple projects across the state.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye, the Council approved the following allocations:

  1. N15,974,357,203 to the state Ministry of Works and Housing for the construction of the Dan Agundi Interchange Underpass and Flyover.
  2. N14,455,507,265 for the construction of the Tal’udu Interchange Clover Leaf Flyover.
  3. N3,360,084,380 to the Ministry of Works and Housing for the upward revision of rates for the construction of a covered sewage conduit/road along Jakara-Kwarin Gogau River.
  4. N1,579,755,966 for the construction of the Kofar Waika – Unguwar Dabai- Yan Kuje Western bypass road in Gwale Local Government Area.
  5. N1,350,460,874 for the construction of the Unguwa Uku ‘Yan Awaki-Limawa junction road in Tarauni Local Government Area.
  6. N820,262,071 for the completion of the Kanye-Kabo-Dugabau road in Kabo Local Government Area.
  7. N802,695,617 for the completion and dualization of the Kofar Dawanau-Dandinshe-Kwanar Madugu road phase II.
  8. N458,443,067 for the re-award of the contract for the construction of reinforced concrete pedestrian bridges at various locations across the state.
  9. N420,000,000 for the rehabilitation of metropolitan street lights and traffic lights.
  10. N200,537,271 for the settlement of outstanding payments in regard to the rehabilitation of the Kwanar Kwankwaso road in Madobi Local Government Area.
  11. N107,658,975 for renovation works at the Reformatory Institute Kiru in Kiru Local Government Area.

The Council also approved funds for the state Ministry of Health, including:

  1. N53,654,223 for the procurement of commodities and drugs required for public health facilities, enabling them to provide free Accident and Emergency, Maternal, and child care services.
  2. N40,820,564 for the payment of drugs and laboratory reagent and consumables supplied to Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital.
  3. N37,005,000 for the settlement of the state government counterpart funding for three rounds of Diphtheria mass vaccination campaigns in 22 local government areas.

Additionally, the Council allocated N56,763,475 to the state Ministry of Higher Education for the reconstruction of a burnt theatre at Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies.

Finally, the Council considered and approved a second 2023 proposed supplementary budget/amendment, totaling N24,000,000,000. This allocation comprises recurrent expenditure of N4,000,000,000 and capital expenditure of N20,000,000,000, thereby revising the N2023 approved revised budget to N350,389,266,018:12 upon passage by the state House of Assembly.
