In preparation for the upcoming local council elections in Taraba State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called upon its supporters to safeguard their voting rights directly at the polling stations.

This message was delivered during the flag presentation ceremony for the party’s local government chairmanship candidates in Jalingo, the state capital, on Wednesday.

The APC emphasized the importance of peaceful campaigning methods and discouraged any involvement in violent activities.

Furthermore, the candidates were urged to take additional measures to discourage the use of weapons by supporters during their campaigns.

Drumming that elections are not war but all about development, the APC Northern Zone Vice Chairman, Solomon Jadana, who made the presentation on behalf of the party’s state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tuktur El-Sudi, said the party is fully prepared for the forthcoming council election.

The APC in the state, according to him, “is fully prepared and confident of our candidates’ victory in the election”.

He added that “both the State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) and the state government have assured us of a transparent exercise”.

Jadana stressed that APC candidates in the election are men of proven character and prudence who are out to help attract progressive ideas for the development of Taraba state.

He reiterated the readiness of the APC to take over from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the next political dispensation.

“All our supporters should be peaceful, but should resist any attempt to rig the election,” he said, adding that “all internal crises that made us lose in the last governorship election have been resolved”.
