  • The promotion cuts across various ranks in the four paramilitary agencies, namely, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS)

The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 32,361 personnel in all the paramilitary services under the Ministry of Interior.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced this on Friday in Abuja at a news conference after the 5th meeting of the Board in 2023, which was presided over by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Abubakar Audi, who briefed newsmen, said the whopping number of officers approved for promotion to their next rank by the Federal Government was unprecedented.

According to him, the promotion cuts across various ranks in the four paramilitary agencies, namely, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

For NSCDC, he disclosed that the promotion of 21385 personnel of the Corps was approved out of the 25921 that sat for the promotion examination, saying this was quite unprecedented since the establishment of the Corps.

Audi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support given to the Board through the chairman, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Tunji-Ojo, in the bid to reposition the paramilitary agencies for more effective services.

He also thanked the minister for his tenacity and doggedness in the pursuit of his set agenda to transform the services to properly contribute to securing the country.

He charged the officers being promoted to see the Federal Government gesture as an invitation to do more, saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected.
