Honda, Mikano, CFAO, Among Contenders for Car-of-The-Year Award

  • Categories include Car-of-the-Year, Truck-of-the-Year, Assembly Plant-of-the-Year, Luxury-Brand-of-the-Year, and more, with winners to be announced on December 15, 2023

The Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards Committee has unveiled the nominees for the 2023 Nigeria Auto Awards, which are set to take place on December 14, 2023. The list includes over 30 automobile models spanning various segments of the auto industry, encompassing showrooms and vehicle assembly plants in the country.

The Car-of-the-Year category features top contenders such as Suzuki Espresso, Honda HR-V, and Changan Eado. Meanwhile, Sino Truck Dangote, Shacman, and JAC are set to compete for the Truck-of-the-Year award.

Nominees for the Assembly Plant-of-the-Year include Lanre-Shittu Motors, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, and Mikano Motors. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Range Rover will contend for the prestigious title in the Luxury-Brand-of-the-Year category.

Auto Workshop of the Year sees Stallion (JAC), Mandilas Motors, and CFAO in the running, while Compact SUV-of-the-Year features Changan CS35, GAC GS4, and Honda HR-V as the primary contenders. Range Rover, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Hyundai Palisade take the lead in the Large SUV category.

Luxury SUV contenders include Range Rover (Autobiography), BMW X7, and Mercedes G Wagon. The Pickup category sees Maxus, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, and JAC T6 battling it out, while GAC GS8, Changan Uni-K, and JAC JS4 compete in the Outstanding Auto Design category.

Nominees for the Minibus category include Toyota Hiace, Jet Mover, Foton View C2, and NORD Flit, with Stallion Motors, ANAMMCO, and Briscoe vying for the Most Resilient Auto Company award.

Coscharis (Ford), Mikano, and GAC will contest the Auto Showroom of the Year award. In the Transport Company of the Year category, Libra, Okeyson, and GUO are the competitors, while Bajaj and TVS are the two nominees for the Three-Wheeler of the Year category.

Chairman of the Awards Committee, Rasheed Bisiriyu, announced that Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, will be honoured as the Auto Personality of the Year for his significant contributions to Nigeria’s auto industry.

The winners in these diverse categories will be unveiled at the grand event scheduled for December 15, 2023, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, promising a spectacular ceremony for participants and enthusiasts alike.
