  • The Conference of Civil Societies warns against politicizing the Tudun Biri bombing incident in Kaduna, urging a transparent investigation
  • CIMICO praises the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff for prompt response and calls for national unity

The Conference of Civil Societies and Coordinator of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMICO) in Nigeria has issued a stern warning against the politicization of the tragic bombing that occurred in Tudun Biri village, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.

During a press conference in Abuja over the weekend, Adams Otakwu, Chairperson of CIMICO, cautioned against turning the incident into a political, religious, or ethnic agenda. He commended stakeholders for their actions to alleviate the suffering of the victims. He emphasized the need for a thorough and transparent investigation, as ordered by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“As a watchdog of the society, we call on those stoking needless tensions around the incident to desist forthwith. This is not a political, regional, or religious issue and should not be projected or interpreted as such for the sake of national harmony, peace, and security,” stated Otakwu, flanked by other executives of the organization.

He described the incident as unfortunate, leading to the loss of innocent lives and injuries in a community with a mix of Muslims and Christians. Otakwu urged restraint from groups and individuals attempting to politicize, regionalize, or religionize the incident, emphasizing its impact on the entire nation.

“As the voice and conscience of the masses, we appreciate the prompt response of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, who visited to condole with the community. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, apologized on behalf of the Nigerian Army and provided for the upkeep and medical care of the wounded,” Otakwu noted.

He underscored the responsibility displayed by the Nigerian Army and called on all Nigerians and the international community to extend condolences, benevolence, and prayers to the people of Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State during this challenging time.
