  • ADP National Chairman, Yabagi Sani, disclaims involvement in signature forgery, attributing it to party members under police investigation
  • Sani reveals police arrest of suspected party member responsible for forging his signature on a document related to candidate’s death

Engr. Yabagi Sani, the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has disclaimed involvement in the forgery of his signature on a document announcing the death of Musa Mohammed Ali, the party’s 2023 House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Constituency, Kano State. Sani attributes the forgery to certain party members currently under police investigation.

In response to allegations made by Ali, who accused Sani and Victor Fingesi of forging and presenting his death certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a replacement, Sani revealed that the suspected party member responsible for the forged signature was arrested by the police. This individual is presently being investigated, having been granted bail in November of the previous year.

Sani clarified, “I am not surprised that my signature was forged on a supposed death certificate of our former House of Representatives candidate in Kano.” He asserted that during the uploading of documents to INEC last year, the existence of his carved signature was discovered, leading to his alerting the police for investigation.

The ADP National Chairman emphasized that he neither forged any death certificate nor played a role in replacing any party member. He called for an apology from Ali and maintained that the case is presently with the FCT Police Command, which continues to investigate the matter.

Expressing his astonishment at the timing of the allegations, particularly as he contests for IPAC national chairmanship, Sani suggested that mischievous elements might be attempting to tarnish his image. However, he remains confident that the ongoing police investigation will vindicate him.
