Gunmen assassinate Kwara medical doctor, abduct daughter

  • The doctor’s plea to the assailants not to take his life and offer of noney and any other worldly possession to the gunmen fell on deaf ears

One David Adefikayo, a medical doctor, has been assassinated by gunmen in Kwara state.

Adefikayo, prior to his brutal murder, was the Medical Director of Dafikayo Clinic.

He was reportedly murdered in his home at Kanbi, Moro Local Government Area of the State around 8:30pm on Thursday.

The doctor’s plea to the assailants not to take his life and offer of noney and any other worldly possessions to the gunmen fell on deaf ears as he was gunned down in front of his stupefied wife and daughter.

The gunmen compounded the family’s anguish, as they also abducted the youngest daughter of the deceased, a 16-year-old girl, before fleeing the scene.

The current whereabouts of the abducted girl and the identities of the murderers remain unknown.

A close family source, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the horrifying incident, expressing their shock and grief.

The community has been enveloped by grief and apprehension, as Dr. Adefikayo was a respected figure who contributed significantly to local healthcare.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi has not reacted to the incident.
