  • Nigerians face festive season challenges due to rising fuel costs, devalued currency, and job losses, with party spokesperson Hon. Debo Ologunagba accusing APC of plundering national resources.
  • The PDP has called for prayers and renewed faith, urging the National Assembly to edit the budget score sheet, cut funding for luxury solos, and focus on uplifting Nigerians.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to celebrate Christmas in spite of the “harsh carols” of political unrest and economic hardship that the All Progressives Congress administration is ringing around the country.

The PDP claimed in a Christmas greeting that the policies of the APC, with their “misguided melodies,” have “wrecked the nation’s economy and social life,” and that as a result, poor families are “struggling to afford even the simplest joys.”

Party spokesman Hon. Debo Ologunagba compared the holiday season to “singing off-key” for many Nigerians as a result of increased fuel prices, a declining value of the country’s currency, and job losses. “Plundering national resources like Scrooge hoarding gold,” he said, the APC “skewed the budget to cater to the extravagant tastes of APC elites,” leaving the populace to suffer as a result.

The PDP’s statement, however, wasn’t all discordant notes. It urged Nigerians to “find harmony in unity and love,” drawing inspiration from the “sacred chords of Christmas” to “renew hope and trust in God’s intervention.”

While calling for prayers and renewed faith, the PDP also urged the National Assembly to “edit the budget’s score sheet,” cutting funding for “luxury solos” and instead “composing verses that uplift the well-being of Nigerians.”

“Despite these challenges, the PDP felicitates with Nigerians and wishes them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead,” the statement added.
