Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), initiated a significant free diarrhoea treatment program for 10,000 children in his hometown of Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, Benue State.

The program, launched as part of activities commemorating Senator Akume’s 70th birthday anniversary, aims to enhance the health of children in the region. Dr Emmanuel Tyover, representing the SGF at the event, urged parents to bring their children for treatment, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing children’s health.

Senator Akume expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, recognizing its commitment to the well-being of citizens. He highlighted the pivotal role the health of Nigerian children plays in the nation-building process.

Dr Emmanuel Agba, CEO of Tyonex Pharmaceuticals Company Limited, explained the partnership with the SGF, citing his passion for the health of the people of Benue and Nigeria. Agba commended Senator Akume’s positive impact on the lives of Nigerians, describing him as a father and humanitarian dedicated to the welfare of the less privileged.

“The treatment is for children under the age of 5 years,” Agba emphasized.

Daniel Morgan-Ihomun, the Programme Coordinator and State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), assured that the medications would reach every part of Benue State, ensuring widespread access to the free diarrhoea treatment.
