The Northern Senator’s Forum has strongly condemned the recent mass killings in Plateau State, labelling the act as “brutal, indefensible, and devoid of reason, staining our shared humanity.” In the attacks on 23 villages in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas, at least 145 individuals lost their lives to bandit assaults, with numerous injuries and property damage reported.

In a statement issued by their spokesperson, Senator Suleiman Kawu Sumaila, the Northern senators have called for a thorough investigation into the attacks and the apprehension of the perpetrators to face the full force of the law. They also urged the federal government to consolidate investigation reports on similar cases and take necessary actions to prevent future occurrences.

The statement emphasizes the need for swift action, stating, “Allocating necessary resources to identify and apprehend the perpetrators swiftly is paramount. They must face the full force of the law, ensuring justice prevails.” The senators express deep condolences to the affected families, reiterating that their immense loss is a collective grief that unites them in the quest for justice.

As representatives of the people, the senators underscore the importance of unity during these challenging times. They call on citizens to draw on shared values of compassion, empathy, and respect to support one another and provide solace to those affected.
