  • Former Governor Jang expresses concern over killings in Plateau, attributing them to a sinister cleansing agenda, urging rigorous actions for peace
  • Jang calls for state police adoption to enhance security and confront insecurity challenges, emphasizing the need for persistent efforts

Jonah David Jang, the former Governor of Plateau State, has expressed his concern over the recent spate of killings in the villages of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas. Jang asserts that the perpetrators behind these tragic events are driven by a sinister cleansing agenda, aiming to strip the people of their heritage.

In a statement released by Comrade Clinton Garuba, media consultant to Senator Jang, the former governor conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families. Describing the attacks as both incessant and unnecessary, Jang highlighted the devastating toll on innocent lives and properties in these areas.

Garuba’s statement pointed out the alarming lack of arrests and prosecutions, attributing the continuing violence to the perpetrators feeling emboldened. Villagers in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Riyom, and Mangu LGAs, according to Jang, continue to endure the onslaught of terrorists with a determined agenda to dispossess them of their heritage.

While acknowledging the efforts of the state and federal governments in responding to the attacks, Jang emphasized the need for rigorous and persistent actions to bring an end to the violence. He urged a return to the once-peaceful atmosphere that defined Plateau, urging the adoption of state police as a crucial measure to enhance security, facilitate swift crisis response, and confront insecurity challenges head-on.
