Super Eagles’ captain, Ahmed Musa, expressed his excitement and commendation for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a captivating matchday 16 game between Kano Pillars and Kwara United at the Sani Abacha Stadium. During a halftime interview with league broadcasters, Musa praised the league’s governing body for the progress in coverage but emphasized the need for continued enhancement.

Musa underscored the importance of developing visibility and exposure for Nigerian football domestically, stating, “We need more development in coverage to elevate our league further.” While acknowledging Kwara United’s impressive performance in the match, he expressed optimism for the league’s continued advancement.

In terms of the league’s growth, Musa advocated for increased private-sector involvement, emphasizing the pivotal role of private investment in the league’s development. He highlighted that relying solely on government support may not be sustainable and called for diversifying funding sources to fuel the sport’s growth.

Taking note of emerging talents like Kano Pillars’ five-goal hero Yusuf Abdullahi, Musa drew parallels between his own beginnings and the promising future he sees for Nigerian football. Expressing optimism for the budding talent, he wished Yusuf Abdullahi the best of luck.
