A team comprising Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Minister of State for Defence Bello Muhammed Matawalle, and Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Betta Edu have arrived in Jos, Plateau State.

Their visit aims to survey the areas affected by the recent attacks on Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi communities, where over 100 individuals lost their lives due to bandit attacks on Christmas Day.

In a video shared on Channels TV’s account on X (formerly known as Twitter), the security chiefs and ministers were seen disembarking from a presidential jet, responding to a summons by the Senate following Senator Diket Plang’s urgent motion concerning the killings.

Besides the military heads, the Red Chamber also called upon the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Gunmen raided numerous villages in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos areas, including Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani, resulting in property destruction and the loss of lives.

According to Mallaig, the Chairman of Community Peace Observers in Bokkos Local Government Area, over 150 individuals perished in the attacks, with more than 10,000 people displaced in the LGA alone. President Bola Tinubu condemned the assault and ordered a pursuit for the perpetrators.
