  • APC calls on Nigerians to support President Tinubu, criticizes PDP’s lack of credibility and irrational opposition to the government
  • The party defends Tinubu’s New Year speech, contrasting it with the PDP’s alleged incivility and failure to understand presidential communication

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to stand in solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party, asserting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacks credibility as a political platform.

Responding to the PDP’s criticism of President Tinubu’s New Year speech as a “harvest of deceit, false claims, and empty promises,” the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, issued a statement on Tuesday, characterizing the PDP’s remarks as evidence of their inability to function as a sensible or credible opposition party.

The APC emphasized that if the status of the opposition party were contested, the PDP would fail to meet the standards. Encouraging Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s administration as it works towards fulfilling electoral promises for improved living conditions, the APC criticized the PDP for what they deemed an irrational and blighting influence on democracy.

The statement further stated, “Democratic opposition politics is not exactly about being a masterclass of incivility or casting crude aspersions without justification.” The APC defended President Tinubu’s New Year address as measured, sensitive, articulate, and highly presidential, contrasting it with what they labelled as the PDP’s nagging irrationality, both in tone and substance.

The APC concluded by asserting that President Tinubu’s New Year speech was a goodwill message to the nation, setting expectations for the year ahead, and criticized the PDP for their alleged failure to grasp the nature of such a speech. The call for support for President Tinubu reflects the party’s determination to consolidate its position amid political challenges.
