Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, has urged state governors to establish positive relationships with members of the National Assembly representing their constituencies to facilitate development that enhances the well-being of citizens.

The minister made this recommendation during the commissioning of a digital conference center at Lagos State University (LASU), facilitated by Mr. Femi Gbajamiala, the former representative of Surulere 1 Federal Constituency and the current Chief of Staff to the President. Dr. Sununu highlighted that the collaboration witnessed during the commissioning exemplifies the progress that can be achieved when there is alignment between state governors and National Assembly members.

In addition to the digital conference center, other projects commissioned in Surulere 1 constituency include the expansion of Babs Animashaun Road to a dual-carriageway with a bridge in the Census Area, a Mini multipurpose stadium, and a general hospital with an 80-bed capacity on Iyun Road.

Addressing the audience during the commissioning, the former speaker emphasized that holding public office entails fulfilling the social contract with the public. Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State echoed the importance of collaboration in governance, emphasizing that the essence of governance is to deliver positive dividends to citizens. He also disclosed that the state government is working with the Federal Ministry of Health to establish a state medical university by the end of 2024.
