One Abba Safiyanu, a police officer, has been crushed to death by a trailer in Jigawa state
Safiyanu was on stop-and-search duty when he met his end. The incident happened on Tuesday evening, along Kano-Hadejia road in Ringim town, Ringim Local Government area of the state.
One Malam Aminu a relative of Safiyanu said the tragic incident happened when the deceased along with his colleagues, tried to stop the trailer driver at a check point but he refused.
Aminu said the driver of the vehicle had run away and the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
He said the deceased was one of the newly recruited police officers and was buried according to Islamic rights.
Spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, has not spoken or issued a statement regarding the incident.
