  • Rampaging terrorists wreaking havoc in the vast land of Nigeria’s north east region on Friday attacked Kwari, a town in Geidam Local Government Area.

The residents of Geidam, a town 40 kilometres away from Niger Republic border, in Yobe state have been enveloped in a dark cloud of despair, sorrow and uncertainty in the aftermath of a devastating attack on the enclave by terrorists.

Rampaging terrorists wreaking havoc in the vast land of Nigeria’s north east region on Friday attacked Kwari, a town in Geidam Local Government Area.

The terrorists are members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād.

The attack happened in the early hours of Friday around 1 a.m. with cars, houses and a church razed during the deadly invasion.

The marauding terrorists also killed fourteen villages as they savagely marched through the beleaguered town without any form of resistance, leaving deaths, destruction, agony and trepidation in their wake.

Among those killed by the terrorists are the pastor of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Luka Levong, and the church treasurer, Maina Abdullahi, according to Sahara Reporter.

“14 people were killed in Geidam this morning, many houses and the church were burnt,” the online media outlet quoted the source as saying.

Other residents who had retired to their homes were forced to flee into the bushes as the gunmen stormed the village, shooting sporadically.

“The victims were taken to the Specialist Hospital, Geidam,” the source added.

Yobe, a state in Nigeria’s Northeastern region, has for years on end been a hotbed of incessant violent and brutal attacks that have resulted in the death of thousands of people.

Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad

Geidam is the council area of the immediate former Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.

It is located 177 kilometres away from Damaturu, the state capital.
