GTI Asset Management and Trust Ltd. has solidified a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), aiming to enhance the commercial value of Nigeria’s oldest domestic club competition, the FA Cup.

The signing ceremony, held in Abuja, marks a significant move to attract sponsorships and elevate the status of the FA Cup. Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the NFF, praised the GTI Group for its achievements with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and anticipates positive impacts on the development of the FA Cup through this partnership.

Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, expressed delight about the collaboration, emphasizing the NFF’s eagerness to revive the glory days of the Federation Cup. He believes the partnership has the potential to improve the country’s football economy substantially.

In response to the partnership, GTI’s Group Managing Director, Abubakar Lawal, affirmed that the company’s expertise and experience would contribute to enhancing the management of the FA Cup. He stated, “We expect that between now and the first three years of this deal, the FA Cup would have been transformed into a very competitive tournament full of excitement and glamour.”

Established in 1945, the FA Cup is currently the premier football single-elimination tournament in Nigeria, featuring over 2,000 teams across the 774 local governments of the Federation and FCT.

GTI’s prior strategic partnership with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2022 showcased the financial institution’s commitment to restructuring the elite league. The new collaboration with the NFF further underscores GTI’s dedication to fostering positive developments within Nigerian football.
