President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extends heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Funke Akindele for the groundbreaking success of her film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’ The film achieved an unprecedented feat by grossing N1 billion within 21 days of its release in cinemas, making it the first Nollywood film to reach such a milestone.

‘A Tribe Called Judah’ initially made history on January 2 as the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, amassing N854 million at the box office within 18 days. This remarkable achievement surpasses Akindele’s previous films, ‘Battle on Buka Street’ (N668.4 million) and ‘Omo Ghetto’ (N636.1 million), which currently hold the second and third positions for the highest-grossing films at the Nigerian box office.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commends the ace thespian for her significant contributions to the growth of the film industry. He applauds the ingenuity, creativity, and immense artistic talents within Nigeria’s thriving entertainment industry.

President Tinubu acknowledges the excellence of the Nigerian creative industry, recognizing its crucial role as not only a platform for artistic expression but also a source of significant soft power and viable export. He emphasizes the importance of the creative industry as a high-employment sector, providing jobs for talented youths. The President expresses gratitude to Nigerians for their enduring support and patronage of homegrown creative endeavors, pledging to create a conducive environment for the industry to thrive further.
