  • The panel also resolved all the five issues raised against the appellant and dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.
  • Justice Sankey, held that the PDP and its candidate lacked the legal right to meddle in the internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress as it relates to the nomination of candidates.

The Supreme Court reserved judgement on Monday in the petition challenging Francis Nwifuru’s election as governor of Ebonyi State.

After the parties engaged adopted their briefs of argument, the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice John Okoro, adjourned the matter to a later date that has yet to be announced.

The appeal followed a decision by the Lagos Court of Appeal, which upheld Nwifuru’s success. The ruling dismissed a plea submitted by Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had challenged the election results.

However, Odii, unsatisfied with the Court of Appeal’s decision, took his case to the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn Nwifuru’s election.
