  • Reno Omokri praises President Bola Tinubu for swift actions, including suspending a minister and addressing governance issues, achieving in one week what took Buhari a year
  • Omokri commends Tinubu for accomplishments such as cost-cutting measures, tackling degree mills, paying sports bonuses, and international interventions

Reno Omokri, a former Presidential aide, showers praise on President Bola Tinubu for his impactful decisions and swift actions in the country’s affairs over the past week.

In a noteworthy move, Tinubu suspended Dr. Betta Edu, the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, amidst a scandal involving N585 million and a private account linked to Oniyelu Bridget.

Omokri, acknowledging Tinubu’s efficiency, highlights that achieving what took former President Muhammadu Buhari a year happened in just one week under Tinubu’s leadership.

Omokri, expressing his views on Wednesday through his verified X account, applauds Tinubu for various accomplishments within this short timeframe.

President Tinubu suspended an errant minister, summoned another over a controversial contract, reduced his travel entourage, dramatically cut costs, and dismissed two CEOs of federal parastatals for gross negligence.

Aside from the minister’s suspension, Tinubu announced a reduction in travel entourage, displaying a commitment to governance cost-cutting, earning Omokri’s commendation.

Establishing an investigative panel to address degree mills and the prompt payment of the Super Eagles’ outstanding bonus are also highlighted as significant feats.

Tinubu’s actions include blocking the six weeks degree-for-cash program in Benin and other nations, unveiling plans for a Chinese-built steel plant in Nigeria, and launching an automated passport portal.

Furthermore, Tinubu cleared the ₦12 billion outstanding for the Super Eagles and other national teams, initiated wage support benefits for civil servants, disbursed ₦105.5 billion for 266 road repairs, and intervened to bring peace in Sierra Leone following a foiled coup attempt.

Omokri emphasizes, “In one week, Tinubu has achieved what Buhari would have taken one year to complete,” validating his earlier campaign assertion that any major Presidential candidate would outperform Buhari.

Despite his praise, Omokri criticizes Tinubu’s administration for not publicizing these achievements, stressing the importance of projecting positive accomplishments for effective rebranding on the international stage.

“The downside is that the administration is not projecting these achievements. They probably need to understand that effective rebranding of Nigeria will only take place when we project positive things that are already happening. If you don’t blow your trumpet, your enemies will blow your downfall,” he adds.
