  • Chief Bisi Akande warns of potentially more corrupt and influential politicians in Nigeria’s future, urging caution and vigilance
  • Akande cautions against infiltration by “political vagabonds,” urging present leaders to be wary of emerging threats within the party

Former Osun State governor and elder statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, has expressed concerns that future politicians in Nigeria will likely be more corrupt. Speaking during his 85th birthday anniversary and the unveiling of the Adebisi Akande Foundation (AAF) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Akande cautioned governors and political leaders, especially within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), about the emergence of political figures who might surpass the present leaders in corruption, influence, and wealth.

In his address, Akande acknowledged the ongoing discussions about corruption among current political leaders but emphasized the looming threat of a new wave of politicians who could be more corrupt, vicious, and influential. He urged caution, warning against the party’s infiltration by these “political vagabonds” who may challenge and accuse current leaders of corruption to seize power.

“We are in a Nigeria where everybody is more corrupt. Corruption is in the mind of everybody. These vagabonds are in the party and struggling to become leaders. Armageddon has started. These coming political vagabonds will fight with you,” Akande remarked.

He urged the present political leaders to be vigilant, as the potential new entrants may be hiding among them and could possibly become more popular and wealthier. Akande stressed that these individuals might threaten the nation if not handled carefully.
