Jose Peseiro, the coach of the Super Eagles, expressed confidence in Nigeria’s strategy to overcome Cameroon in the round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire. Peseiro acknowledged the challenge, emphasizing that facing the eight-time champions would be a tough encounter.

Speaking at the prematch press conference on Friday, Peseiro outlined the team’s approach: “We know what we must do if we want to beat Cameroon. We don’t want to concede goals; at least, we must score one. Our objective is to win the match. We know the power of the opponents, the quality of the players and coach. We believe too much in us.”

Accompanied by FC Nantes winger Moses Simon, Peseiro’s sentiment was echoed by the player, emphasizing the team’s commitment to giving their all to secure a victory.

On the opposing side, Rigobert Song, the coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, conveyed respect for Nigeria, acknowledging the strength of the Super Eagles’ players individually and collectively. Song highlighted the seriousness with which his team would approach the game, recognizing the challenge posed by Nigeria.

“We will stick to the positive; we are trying to improve our game daily. Nigeria is a good team. It is not going to be easy, but we are going to take them seriously. When we play a team that is serious, we will be serious too,” Song stated.

With a focus on organization, both tactically and mentally, Song emphasized the need for his team to minimize mistakes and believe in themselves. The Cameroonian coach acknowledged the past defensive challenges but expressed determination to concede fewer goals in the upcoming clash against Nigeria.

As the anticipation builds for the Super Eagles versus Indomitable Lions showdown, both coaches conveyed their respective teams’ readiness for a challenging and competitive encounter on today.
