It’s gathered that the fire broke out at around 8:30 pm in the furniture section of the State capital’s largest market.
The Commander of the Nigerian Fire Service, New Market Office, Hamza Mohammed, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that a yet to be identified shop owner died while attempting to enter his shop to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters from the state fire service have been battling to prevent it from spreading to other shops.
