  • The University of Jos has handed over project sites for the proposed Indoor Multipurpose Sports Complex and Sports Pavilion for NUGA 2024
  • UniJos Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, emphasized adherence to high-quality standards and timely completion for the upcoming Nigerian Universities Games Association

Significant strides have been taken as the University of Jos (UniJos) in Plateau State gears up to host the 2024 Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA). The school administration has officially handed over two crucial project sites at the J.T. Useni Mini Stadium in Naraguta Campus to contractors, marking a pivotal step in preparing for the upcoming games.

The designated projects, namely the proposed Indoor Multipurpose Sports Complex and the proposed Sports Pavilion, will be financed through the Year 2023 Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) Special Intervention and Year 2023 Normal Intervention for the Department of Physical and Health Education.

During the handover ceremony, UniJos Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, emphasized the importance of adhering to high-quality standards and specifications. He urged the appointed contractors to ensure the timely completion and delivery of the Indoor Sports Complex and the Sports Pavilion.

Prof. Ishaya highlighted that these facilities extend beyond the NUGA festival’s requirements. They are envisioned to contribute significantly to Plateau State and Nigeria by serving as venues for hosting national and international sports events.
