  • Ademola Lookman candidly admits feeling pressure playing for the Super Eagles but expresses pride in representing Nigeria and embracing responsibility
  • Lookman, a standout performer, contributed three goals in the last two games, positioning himself as a potential contender for the AFCON MVP

Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian attacker, has candidly admitted to feeling the weight of pressure while playing for the Super Eagles, despite his recent standout performances.

Nigeria, boasting quality players from top European clubs, emerged as the most valuable team in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. Living up to their ‘favourites’ tag, the Super Eagles have progressed to the latter stages of the biennial competition.

Lookman, who contributed three goals in the last two games, is a potential contender for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player if he maintains his impressive form. However, the former Everton FC winger acknowledged the challenges that come with representing Nigeria.

“I feel the pressure wearing this [Nigeria] shirt. Every single time I put on the jersey, that’s just what comes with being Nigerian and playing for the country, so I’m proud to do that, to take that responsibility,” said Lookman, who is currently on loan at Atalanta in Serie A.
