  • The NCC announces peaceful resolution of the interconnect debt feud between MTN Nigeria Plc and Globacom Limited
  • MTN’s approval to disconnect Globacom is retracted, with the NCC facilitating reconciliation to prevent disruptions to subscribers

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced on Thursday that the interconnect debt feud between MTN Nigeria Plc and Globacom Limited has been peacefully settled.

According to a statement released Thursday night, the NCC stated that the approval for MTN to disconnect Globacom has been retracted in light of this resolution.

The commission revealed that following its initial public notice, it intervened further by mediating between the two parties and facilitating the reconciliation process to prevent any potential disruptions to subscribers.

Emphasizing the importance of adherence to licensing terms and conditions, especially those outlined in interconnection agreements, the NCC reiterated this as imperative for all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and other licensees in the telecommunications sector.

“To proactively tackle and prevent future cases of interconnect indebtedness within the industry, the Commission will request relevant records and regular updates from MNOs,” stated the NCC in the announcement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Mouka.

The statement also served as a reminder of the Commission’s dedication to nurturing a stable and compliant telecommunications environment in Nigeria.
